Idea #14637: Display GIF files as a desktop background.

bug This idea is a duplicate of Idea #406: Animated Desktop.

Rationale
Ubuntu provides a pretty good variety of wallpapers that you can choose for your background, along with you being able to insert a custom image as you please. But wouldn't it be great if you could have a GIF image as your background, so you could see, maybe an animated fish swimming, right as your wallpaper.

While I would find this annoying, I see where some people could find this entertaining. Voted up.

GIF sucks, its limited to 256 colors and no alpha transparency.

GIF is a thing of a past. ;)
Animated wallpaper - yes, but more like screensaver thing or just video.
