Description
Ideas with bogus claims, or ideas which are actually bugs appear to be on the rise. We really need a Brainstorm testing team that can certify the quality of ideas, and whether they are ideas or bugs quickly (ideas which aren't consistently repeatable aren't bugs).
Because it isn't the job of brainstorm admins currently to do so, so often it is not done. Instead claims about performance increases go unchallenged until someone (generally me) points out there is no proof. Or tests it personally and works out that its inconsistent.
To outsiders, this also makes ubuntu look worse, because people are making bogus claims which don't make any sense. I know from experience that testing many of these ideas is an easy job, and a team of 1 or 2 people could quickly validate the claims made by the ideas that matter, within half an hour each day.
And, it helps guarentee better quality in Brainstorm, whilst helping filter crappy ideas from upstream developers who might be peering in.

+1 Good one Auzy.
Yeah, maybe there should be some kind of filtering process - or quality assurance of Brainstorm ideas - so that the Ubuntu devs can discover (and hopefully work on) some of the better Brainstorm ideas.
My question in this: How do you propose setting up this 'testing team'? Would they be prominent Brainstormers like yourself, or current Ubuntu developers ... or something entirely different? Who gets to decide who will judge our ideas?
Just brainstorming here:
Maybe... in the spirit of openness...Brainstormers could nominate and elect other Brainstormers to this team. We could eventually add functionality to the Brainstorm site so that we could track how each team member votes, and then decide if we think they should be re-elected when their term expires. Maybe the terms could be for 6 months, timed in sync with the Ubuntu release cycle.
What are your thoughts?

errr... that's what I get for changing my wording last-minute.

we could have a system kind of like we have for dupe ideas where we can have a vote to whether or not it is even possible to do an idea, and if enough enough of us vote it as being a bogus idea it gets reported to the mods for review/deletion, if the mods find that it is bogus they can then delete it.

We'll have lots of new goodies in the version to come : moderator approval before an idea can get voted, possibility to report ideas as spam, in development, implemented, and we have a brand new moderator team of 23 people so far!

Ahh, that would be nice, because its getting a bit painful for me having to ask every time "anyone confirmed this". Theres been ideas here with entire wars between half a dozen mods and endusers, even though the idea is a dupe, or turns out to have been implemented.
More mods is always good.

I'm so glad to hear there will be more moderators for Brainstorm! -- At the same time, it all comes down to people, and how they act.
My fear is that it'll be like a crowd of people trampling on the garden of ideas. Sure you weed out the 'bad' ones, but many good ones will be injured in the process.
Here's a thought: In my mind, when you're quickly plowing through ideas, killing off bad ones here and there, you are probably not in a state of mind to really appreciate the better ideas. So, why not break down the process into two steps. On "first pass" the mod can do the weeding, and on the second pass do the grading.
Towards some kind of moderator protocol:
* It's not all about sqwashing ideas.
* At "first pass" weed out dups, ideas that are a total waste of time, etc.
* At "second pass", the remaining ideas will be graded and triaged.
Perhaps it will be more productive to do things in this two-tiered approach.
Keeping this process transparent to the 'regular' Brainstormers would be nice. I'd like to be able to see which ideas make it past the first pass. If an idea is rejected in first pass, I'd like the ability to still comment on it, to campaign for the mods to reconsider it. (Maybe this could be a new category: ideas for reconsideration -- if it gets enough "reconsider votes" the mods will take another look at it.)
The idea of all of this is that the mods should not 'rule' over Brainstorm, but should instead be 'civil servants' of the Brainstorm community.
Just my $0.02

actually, I like the idea of
*First round: eliminates duplicates, bad ideas/
*Second round: eliminates ideas that need further investigation and discussion, incomplete ideas, ideas that cannot be implemented at this time, etc.
*Third round: Remaining ideas being examined for consideration.
