Description
I believe there might already be one of these in development somewhere, but I feel Cisco VPN support is missing from Network Manager.

the package network-manager-vpnc 0.6.4svn2422-0ubuntu3(gutsy) already supports cisco compatible vpn.
works fine for me..

I've tried this before, but it must be another type of Cisco VPN as it asks me for Password and Group Password. The windows Cisco VPN client I have only asks for Group Password. It never connects me, so i'm left to assume it's for a different VPN system. A website about vpnc tells me its a "client for cisco vpn concentrator". I'm assuming our PIX is not one of these.

I will find out that difference between this VPN and the one that my company uses (which I have used before at other places of work) and clarify.

Duplicate of the #4 item. Also, networkmanager-vpnc works wonderfully.

Just for the record. I decided to give networkmanager-vpnc one last try this time in Hardy and although it still asks for both Password and Group Password (where the Cisco client only asks for one password) it worked!! I gave the same password twice and to my amazement it just worked! Joy.

I presume this has been fixed in the version that comes with Hardy as I'm sure I've tried this before in other Ubuntu releases.

One more thing though... When the VPN is established it only allows web access from the remote network (I can't browse the web when VPN is up). I guess this is a network config issue where it is using my VPN gateway instead of local one? Is there any way around this? Maybe there is an option similar to the one is the Windows PPTP client where you can tell it to ignore the VPN's gateway. This solves the problems for Windows users.

timfidler,

You're web access situation is probably set by your firewall/vpn administrator. Ask him/her if they allow split tunneling through the vpn. If they do, configure your client to allow it also. If they don't, pay them money to do so.
