Written by k.y the 29 Feb 08 at 14:00. Category: System. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
It's a known bug that many people have problems with their IPW2200 device. It would be nice if that could be fixed since it's a bug since now nearly 2 years.

Perhaps you could explain what an "IPW2200" device is. Yes I know I can Google it.

It's the wireless adaptor by Intel used in may Notebooks some time ago. I think it was used in many of those "Intel Mobile" or what it was called, tagged Laptops. That tag that was just allowed to be on the Computer if the Chipset and the Wirelesscard where both from Intel, or somthing strange like that. I didn't explain this because I assumed that thos that are having problems with it, know what I am talking about. Maybe this wasn't a too good idea. Sry.

TBH i've never heard of people struggling with IPW2200. It has worked out the box (for me) since before dapper.

@ edm1: it works out of the box, but just not very stable. When you do something that increases the bandwidth usage you often get kicked out of the network. I added the link to the bug report, but searching for ipw2200 will give you many more similar bugs.

The only problem I have had with IPW2200 is the LED on my Dell Inspiron 9300 does not light up when I have the radio switched on. But I assume there is a way to fix that, I've just been too lazy to look for it.

ok, it seems to be a networkmanager issue. installing nscd might help, if not getting rid of networkmanager and installing wicd should solve the problem.
