Description
At the moment the only GUI application to do that is in Gnome >connect to a server. However that only works for Windows machines. If I wanted to share files with another Ubuntu on the same subnet - I would have to install NFS and edit config files.
There should be an application that allows you to set up file sharing with any OS on your network. For example you can have an option to have your machine visible to other computers on the network. It should have an option to join one of those Windows networks like MSHOME. It can be a package so if anyone needs it on Xubuntu or a lighter edition they can download it.

I can't think of an app that does this.

It shouldn't be too hard.

It would be damn useful -- not for everyone, granted, but for a lot of people.

Nautilus supports SSH very well, it's good for that need. Also it supports Samba sharing conveniently.
