Idea #13737: Shut down order when finish as an option on any long process

Written by soyporti the 26 Sep 08 at 08:00. Related project: Gnome. Status: New
Rationale
This its not my idea, its just a compilation of many others I've seen here.
This are some processes that take so long, that sometime we let the PC working all night.

Lets include an option to shutdown the pc at the end of this processes:

Torrent Download
Update
Software Install
Video editing
audio editing
gparted
other long processes.

Please comment on any other processes that take long time and you just let them working all night.

I think that might be practical after the work to have a unified process manager for downloads, torrents, transfers, installations etc.

I'm not sure about including video and audio editing in there.

If it's important for you, you can create a script that queries relevant applications for their statuses and shuts down when ready.

wel...

this wouldn't be possible to get implemented in any application. but you could make a program to specify the circumstances to shutdown. like "no kb/s down for half hourd" or "no active processes" or "cpu not used for x time and x%"

+1, please make a chance to your discription
