Idea #12782: More info about media in Nautilus' statusbar

bug This entry was marked as not being an idea the 19 October 11. If this is a bug report, please use the Ubuntu bug tracker.
Written by forteller the 4 Sep 08 at 13:41. Related project: Nautilus. Status: Not an idea
Rationale
When I select a music file, video file or picture in Nautilus I would like to get some basic information about them in the status bar:

- For video and music: Length and quality.
- For pictures: Size (in pixels)

I think it's annoying that I have to open a movie just to find out how long it is.

Ssdg> If it's a dupe, then report it with the link above ;) (I've checked, no dupe has been reported yet)

+1 for the idea, about the videos, you can also show the size (resolution) of the video, along with its length

I agree some extra file ifnormation would be useful, especially regarding multimedia content, will recommend the idea +1

You can right click>properties>audio/video tab

There are all important metadata.

Kojot 350: Too much work! If I'm supposed to do that, I could just as well just open the file in VLC or something. The point is fast/easy access to the most basic info.

Good idea, this would make Ubuntu a better operating system for multimedia and porno.

+1

I would like to have the image dimensions displayed in a column when in "List" view. Very important for web development when working with large numbers of images, I need to sort the images by dimension for processing, and currently have to use virtual machine with Windows XP for this. Any good file manager needs to display meta information, especially dimensions, for sorting.

Add a column for image dimension!

Great idea! Why don't you create a new Brainstorm idea for that?
