Rationale
for me as system engineer for Microsoft product for more than 6 years , i can say that ubuntu is very effective OS, and i tried for some time but the problem is with the wireless and sharing option, in windows you can share the internet very easy between two computer through wireless, but with ubuntu i couldn't, so it's need some tools , to provide Ad-Hoc option to the wireless so we can connect two notebook , and also the internet sharing service so we can share the internet between them.
2.6.27 had better wireless ad-hoc support.
Ubuntu 8.10 will have better wireless support due to network-manager 0.7

Network-manager 0.7 couldn't come soon enough. Too bad it wasn't started earlier so it would be more feature-complete and useful now. Oh well, it was a good idea. Help is on the way, and I believe that the last few wireless chipset companies will soon bend to pressure to release specifications about their hardware so the drivers can be developed.
+1 agreed... The network manager is very limited in setting up a proper working internet share and wireless card, but I did manage to have it fully working by hand-editing some files...
Firestarter helps with the Share Internet tick-box, but the wireless settings need more work...
WICD has some ad-hoc stuff in it, but I still have not been able to either share a connection, or bridge my wireless and wired together (both trivial in XP).
