Description
Hallo, this is my first entry, so I hope to make it right with my simple english...

My idea: set counting of lines and characters standardly on the bottom bar of the screen. Nowadays you must activate the line-counting every time you open a document and to count characters you must view the statistics and in the meantime you can not write.
This feature will be useful for writing newspapers or other official documents.

This *would* be a useful add-on for some users.

I'm tired of getting nasty calls from my parole officer because I was a dozen words short on my community-service reports...I was too lazy to run a word count before e-mailing it.

I've always thought of this idea, I'm surprised it's not implemented yet. +1

Definitely. I often write word- or character-count limited abstracts, proposals, or papers. To have a running view in the status would be fabulous! I'd say it should be possible to turn it on and off.
