Rationale
Due to the limited disk space on most Netbooks Ubuntu Netbook Remix should consider using a 'Package Manager' such as Zero Install to manage applications. Zero Install applications can be downloaded and run without installing. Theoretically this could save some drive space. Also, utilizing Zero Install as the primary option on Netbook Remix would not prevent the use of Synaptic/APT for traditional installs, as the two systems should not conflict.
At this time the software available through Zero Install is somewhat limited. If this option were to be adapted by Ubuntu Netbook Remix, a Netbook Remix software database similar to GetDeb could be established to catagorize software that has been packaged for Zero Install and tested to work on most systems within Netbook Remix.
Ubuntu might even work to help develop a more user friendly version of Zero Install for the Netbook Remix community.
Here is a tutorial for using Zero Install as it is currently configured. Undoubtedly the Ubuntu Community can make this even better and more intuitive for Netbook Remix users.
