It's not useful to point out that some other program has this, unless the proposal is to replace the current program with the other one, which is not going to happen. That means not fixing the issue, but rather continue to point everyone that asks to the other program forever and ever.
The question is: should the default program grow this capability?
I think your statement about whether or not it's useheful to point to a program with the functionality that's being requested for the default program is valid.
Reason I pointed out speedcalc is to explain why I would vote "no" for this idea.
My thinking is that one should keep the default programs relatively simple to prevent bloat and allow users to install more feature-ful alternatives to suit their needs.
More generally (beyond the realm of calculators) I would like to see Ubuntu list "alternatives" for default programs in the package manager. That'd be cool. I'm off to input that idea now after some searching to see if it's a duplicate...
Flak. I think you are mistaking Bloat with features..
OSX's calculator has this, lots of people use it, and it didn't get in the way.
People here HAVE to stop using bloat as an excuse. I have noticed that not one person here has even defined it (why, because it doesn't sound good when the feature only takes 500bytes).
Add it, like I said, lots of people use it. For aviation, we use it too a lot. Anyone who deals with multiple numbers would like this
