Agree with you but I will not promote this because I like the irony of this post being in the negative to much ;-) But good point!

I don't like the idea of a 'compulsory' comment, but perhaps something that says 'Do you want to post a comment to explain your vote?' when you click the down arrow.

IMHO there are too many useless ideas or even spam to take the time to comment all of them. So I disagree, but your idea is still worth a comment

My point is that when some perhaps kid gives you something he thinks is brilliant idea and only gets back minus points, he feels bad and never make progress. I think when you give something you should get back at least deacent opinion and advice to take new way further....

Ps. I am feeling hurted too, and I'm still adult :( but I have a helmet LOL

There will be many duplicated comments.

+1 from me. Spam should be removed by a spam reporting button and the moderators. If you think you have a good idea and it gets voted down it would be nice to know why and the least comment on why they voted against it.

If I had to post a comment [work] every time I voted something down, I'd just stop using brainstorm.

Conversely, if I had to post a comment every time I voted something up, I'd stop using brainstorm.

Voting should be easy. If someone had something constructive to add for or against an idea, they can post it. But if you *require* everyone to post, you'll get comments like "lame", "didn't like it" or whatever.

Look at the comments posted here already. They are fairly constructive. But imagine if all 52 people (current negative votes) had been required to post comments.

* And it may not actually be 52. It could be 100 people who voted for the idea and 152 people who voted against.

Maybe not REQUIRING, but ASKING could be the way.

We will not be making comments compulsory.
