Description
Pidgin 2.5 has just entered string freeze, release date is the 15th august.
If we like it or not, pidgin and other instant messengers are one of the most used applications by regular users(aka human beings) after the web browser; Making their experience as nice as possible should be a top priority.
New stuff in Pidgin 2.5 includes the upgrade to MSN Protocol 15. which - unfortunately - still has the majority of users in many areas of the world.

We already have a series of "Update Pidgin 2.3 to 2.4", will we have the same for 2.5? I mean, this can hardly be considered as an idea.

I completely agree with this. It seems that every version of Ubuntu has included an old version of Pidgin (or Gaim back before the rename) forcing me to find a third party repository that has the latest version or compile it from source. It would be great for a desktop operating system to keep up to date with the latest and greatest of desktop applications.

Why can't people stop posting packaging requests here? Don't you realize the Ubuntu developers don't and never will look here? If you want a package update/inclusion, file a bug on http://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/ with the tag [needs-packaging].

Plus the Ubuntu developers are thinking of replacing Pidgin with Empathy, because Empathy has officially become the official IM client of the official GNOME 2.24.

Thanks for your idea and for your participation in brainstorm! Asking for new releases should be done on launchpad bug report rather than brainstorm. Brainstorm is designed to help people voting about new ideas to improve ubuntu and to help developers to see what's really needed by the users.
However, asking for a new release doesn't need to get voted since it's not a idea to change/improve ubuntu, it's a normal process to keep ubuntu updated. Developers probably will be happy to do it if you ask them in the good place.
Thus, can someone open a new bug report here? :

Either way, Pidgin is a traditional chat program. We need something which is a backend/frontend type setup really.
