However adding the features to gvfs is for unexperienced programers like me not an easy task, but I would like too. I think big portions of code can be taken from other projects.

I would like to add that renaming gvfs mounts in Nautilus would be really handy too. I have a long list of mounted remote filesystems in my places panel in Nautilus. Since upgrading to Jaunty, I find they are all named "SFTP for simon on ..." and the ellipsis serves to make them indistinguishable. Being able rename them (or even just having them take the name I use for their bookmarks) would be a real boon.
