Idea #11860: nautilus thumbnailing via network

Written by ways the 5 Aug 08 at 09:46. Related project: Nautilus. Status: New
Rationale
when browsing another machine via the network, nautilus should be able to ask host machine for thumbnails, instead of fetching large pictures, and creating thumbnails itself.

this only applies if host also runs nautilus.

is it windows or linux or mac that has a 'thumbs.db' file for (obviously?) thumbnails?

if windows has thumbs.db then windows-to-nautilus viewing can use that,

of course i think it is irrelevant whether the other machine runs nautilus or not because if it has not gui (server) then it wouldnt work.
