That was recently implemented[1] in nautilus, see bug 377157, but file-roller
has space for improvement in this integration, for example implement adding
files to tar.gz or tar.bz2 files, adding a folder... you could keep this bug
opened for that improvements...

For example, another nautilus integration feature is bug 546335, where the
improvements I commented before would be needed.
