Launchpad needs a Wiki unrelated to Ubuntu. When we opened our open source project (ubuntu related, in a way) i was uncertain about being allowed to use Ubuntu wiki to fill one (1) page about the project.

I really think you should provide a wiki to every project in launchpad (maybe with the chance to choose to have an external one).

The rationale is:
- having an own wiki requires hosting. Why use launchpad for bugtracking and buying hosting space just for the wiki ?
- Ubuntu wiki is inherently unrelated for many of the projects.
- Launchpad's blueprints require an external site. This shouldn't be necessary

Sure, you can host your project on Launchpad and get a wiki on google code or wiki etc.

I don't see the point, though.

This is not a bug, but a missing feature request. I do believe launchpad needs a wiki. See also the attached blueprint (not written by me)

As I find launchpad so good and useful I'd like it to improve and to gather even more attention from other people.

Vadim: where are you going to host a blueprint, without a wiki ? Launchpad shuold be self contained and I think a wiki fits nicely in the minimum needs of a project.

Forums and website hosting fall out of that, imho.

Blueprints are hosted in Launchpad...

You don't necessarily have to follow Ubuntu's model of linking to an external wiki. The blueprint is editable by project members just fine.

What's editable is the summary. It's generally not a good idea to use the summary area as the blueprint itself, and it usually won't work, since for a blueprint of any reasonable sophistication you'll want proper formatting, images, links, history tracking and so on. But for projects that use the blueprint tracker as an "idea tracker" of sorts, it may.

As you can see in the link I posted above, wiki hosting seems to be among the considered features for Launchpad, but not on the immediate agenda. In the meantime, you can use a free wiki host.

Mgunes, I read the link you gave.
I opened the idea just after my elder bug on launchpad was marked as confirmed. That may mean they're taking that in consideration right now.

This is idea in the brainstorm is just to check the effective people's interest in such a feature.
