many people like the AutoScroll option, including me. Why isn't it enabled by default?

Eldmannen true you can paste using Ctrl+V, but becomes a pain if you have to remember which app uses which keys for the same function.
consistency across desktop apps is important.

smooth scrolling: +1
auto scrolling: -1

Smooth scrolling is great, +1.
I don't see why people don't like auto-scrolling. I don't use it very often, but it's not like it takes away any usability. +1
