Description
clicking left mouse`s button and dragging allow to make rectangular selections.
It`s would be interesting to implement a hand drawn selection on nautilus (just as the hand draw selection tool on The Gimp).
this feature should be activated in a simple way for example Ctrl + right button or Supr + left button
allowing two types of selections with the mouse give much more versatility, and is also fun and looks cool (an not yet implemented in any other OS, as far as I know)

But what is the real usability improvement here?

i don“t see the usability improvement of a rotating cube, but everybody love it... now seriously. i generate diary a lot of files ans folders, so i need to order and sort them constantly and a think a feature like this would be very useful.

This would be great for selecting multiple files in nautilus, instead of ctrl-clicking files individually or moving them in groups... definitely could be one of those awesome things

I agree with this idea completely.
While there are already ways in place to select multiple files, many users would likely prefer a graphical way of dealing with their files rather than key-commands.
So long as this system is intuitive and not painful to use for the average user (keep on accidentally selecting a file, get frustrated, not like Ubuntu) I'm all for it.

Great idea ! But it seems difficult to implement.
After all, why not? It will be very useful (for me at least).

It took me a few readings to really understand what your idea's title meant. Perhaps "Mouse gestures for file selection in Nautilus" would have been clearer?

well, i think sometimes a terminal is very useful to make selection, but sometimes is better a graphical way. I think is task dependent.
sorry ubun2ideas my english is not very good, probably there is a better title for this idea. But i think mouse gestures are different thing.

I often use the desktop to temporary store files during some kind of a task.
I like the idea of sorting them afterwards by simply drawing on the screen.

its a very good idea, specially for people who like to keep their files and folders organized and spend a lot of time holding down ctrl and clicking.
