Description
When a user opens ubuntu he is presented with so many icons for gnome, ubuntu, applications, games, accessories etc.But there
isnt single icon for linux mascot tux i only see it in wallpapers.A tux can be in boot screen, splash screen,in search window,in nautilus, application icon or filesystem icon etc.Make it look good and appealing, now that linux is getting popularity people shouldn't miss tux on Desktop/laptop.whether in office or home.people relate linux to tux, windows have some wierd unnamed icon in taskbar start button, they keep it in every wallpaper. If linux has a icon they should use it.

Don't see a useful reason to show a mascot everywhere. If someone wants it, they're free to get a wallpaper with him or something.

that's because Linux, and Ubuntu in particular, should be about participation to a common ideal, thus the crucial importance of symbols... if Microsoft chose to scrap the old windows logo to replace it with something else it would be just a meaningless commercial move because the windows logo does not have any deep connection with any set of highly regarded values (call them ideals if you wish).
Should Linux renounce to its symbols instead that would be a much more significant parting because they were born and have grown not as an empty trade-mark but as the iconification of an higher ideal.

Branding works. I don't know about using Tux though.

I would say the ubuntu circle symbol should be used more prevalently though throughout Ubuntu. For example, I'm using the Kubuntu kde 4.1 remix right now, and there is little to no branding of Ubuntu here. Looks fairly KDE default to me. (Fair enough since it's a tech preview, but even the last time I used Kubuntu 3.x it was sparce on the "ubuntu" branding.)

The only branded place I really see here is the icon top-left.

I do have however a very neat folder theme, where the folder icons have a small ubuntu logo on them. Unfortunately I don't know the name of it, but here is how it looks like:
