Idea #11252: Ability to sudo from Nautilus when changing file permissions.

Written by bigfox the 17 Jul 08 at 21:09. Related project: Gnome. Status: In development
Rationale
When in the file or folder properties -> Permissions in Nautilus (Gnome's file browser) it would be nice to be able to authenticate in the same way as I would for network manager or some of the other system settings to fix permissions of a file.

This is among the planned features for Nautilus, which will be implemented via PolicyKit, but as far as I know, there's no ETA, since the person working on it is on a long leave.

This is something that has irked quite a few people on Ubuntu forums over the years, and since PolicyKit has become a soon to be reality. I think it would be nice.
