Description
When I used Windows XP I used to edit videos with Ulead Video Studio 9. It was a simple to use package that was packed with a lot of nice features and effects.
Video Studio 9 combined power with simplicity. Something Ubuntu also does very well. But Ubuntu seriously needs to up it's game when it comes to video editing.

The people behind Gstreamer are working on video-editing tools which even look in alpha stage very promising. They are going to be better maintainable in the long run.

Preference to agree with Eldmannen.
More support is needed for Linux Video projects.
A number of them are advancing.
If you want to "pay" for a proprietary product, have you thought of donating to a free project.
The Open source projects tend to listen to user feedback.

Pop into getdeb.net and look for a program called Kino, it's a nice video editor... Also DeVeDe maked a really good DVD VIdeo :)

Well, that would be great, only if Ulead Video Studio becomes open source, which is unlikely, so I vote -1.

If there was a simple to use open source application out there that worked then I'd be happy. But there isn't and I'm getting tired of waiting.
