Related to: Wine. Status: New
Description
A lot of us use WINE to run the Windows version of firefox. I use Firefox on ubuntu, but I like my Add-ons and themes for it. When I use Windows, I can install all I want. In ubuntu when I use firefox, It says, "This add-on is not availible in Linux" or something in that manner. We should fix that, I'm sure everyone hates being confused in which browser to use, either Firefox or Firefox.

All my extensions work.
I use AdBlock Plus and NoScript.
Which extension does not work for you?

I think he is talking about maybe ActiveX or Shockwave. But its very rare to see those being used.

Either way, we definately shouldn't be promoting their use anyway (since they don't work in OSX either).

But yeah, please tell us some examples..

Agreed. And never, NEVER use Windows Firefox with wine under Linux.
You don't buy a Porsche and get the engine throttled then.
I use Foxmarks, Adblock and Download manager (and I know frommany other plugins that they work).

Usually there's a developer page around there. Try visiting their homepage. They usually have Linux builds (HTML validator for example) and they may be even updated more frequently.

Firefox on AMD64 Ubuntu Feisty and earlier, does not have native support for viewing YouTube.

Some jiggery pokery was needed, not hard to do, but took a bit of finding for the instructions - and probably not a lot of people know how to do it.

But some AMD64 users may have considered using wine for firefox - I know I had, but I had also considered using a virtual player to run Ubuntu i386 version so I could run easy peasy firefox out of the box (and several other multimedia apps which haven't yet been converted to 64bit use).

I would consider an engineless porche body for it's road handling (preferably second hand or from the wreckers), and plonk in a VW engine which may get some hotting up at some stage. I am sure it would be more fun than a VW, and a lot cheaper than a Porche, and I might accidentally exceed the speed limit from time to time. 8^)
But if I happened to come upon a Porche engine, mmm ...
I don't think I would be inclined to throttle it down.

Is there a player for Youtube videos available for Firefox Feisty AMD64 yet?
Just wondering if the likes of VLC can do it.

Why can't you just install Firefox in Wine the normal Windows way?

Extensions not working in Linux Firefox will most cases not work in Wine Firefox either. Things like "IE Tab" etc
