Idea #10981: Lock screen on closing laptop lid

Related to: Gnome. Status: New
Description
KDE has this functionality. You can set that when you close the laptop lid, the screen automatically gets locked.
In GNOME you have to manually lock it and afterwards close you lid.
I think KDE's approach is faster and more secure and it wouldn't be too hard to make GNOME copy this behaviour.

This is quite simple in the current system. Just set "When laptop lid is closed" in Gnome Power Manager to "Blank Screen" and set "Lock screen when screensaver is active" in the Screensaver settings.

Easy, no change needed.

You would still have to wait for the screensaver to come on (just tested).
So if you're screensaver is set to begin after 20 minutes, then your closed laptop will lock the screen after 20 minutes, and not immediately.

I'd like to see the option for locking the screen included everywhere relevant.

This can be easily done also in gnome. In this link they tell how to disable it, but you can also put it on:
