First of all, sorry for bad English.
Ubuntu MUST have a kind of welcome-setup. In this setup, users can choose their own settings, like their desktop (GNOME or KDE for example), their mail settings, Chat settings, theme, etc. First, people must choise one of these options:
Choose an option
-----------------
I'm using Ubuntu for the first time (I'm beginner) and I used Microsoft Windows previously
I'm using Ubuntu for the first time (I'm beginner) and I haven't used Microsoft Windows previously
I don't need this setup
-----------------
Then, the welcome-setup can adjust the questions and information, according to the level of knowledge of the user.
It would be very practical to provide some information about the basics of Ubuntu/Linux. How to browse devices, explain differences between Windows and Linux file system and at the end of the setup, provide some information to get support. The IRC channels are a very good way to get help, but many people don't even know what IRC is. That has to be improved! Give the user information about getting support by Forum and IRC.
Another issue: Translation is still a problem. Sometimes, you see an English piece of text, while the rest is all your native language (Dutch in my occasion)
