Description
Idea ; enable volunteers to join in creating the theme packs

Inspiration from the request made in ;
http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/10724/

Method to help realize the above inspired idea.

1) Maybe set up a branch interest group on the Ubuntu web site, for theme creation.
The Ubuntu Launchpad PPA free webspace for ubuntu projects might be suitable.

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+ppas
PPA = Personal Package Archives

2) Invite people to suggest "topics" for themes.
The site then invites members to "join a team" to work on a topic.

3) Anybody can send raw material on a topic (provided they have copyright).
The team can re-use material or new material to make regular variations, updates and new themes on that topic.

More than one team can work on the same topic.

e.g. topics
Corporate - finance
Corporate - multinational trader
Corporate - manufacturer
Children - learning
Children - sports
Children - grandparents
Business - small home business
Business - tradesperson
Community Services
Government departments
Gamer - 3D first person
Gamer - strategy
Science - astronomy
Science - chemistry
Science - montage of many sciences
Multimedia - musician (various styles)
Multimedia - video production
Multimedia - Home Entertainment Unit
Cultural - make one for your own ethnic or national identity

People could join the general theme community, but they may choose to not concentrate on one theme, but rather on on aspect of several themes using their interest/skill base.
e.g. they may be interested in graphic design, be in to photography, be an actor/commentator/speech expert and want to provide voice tracks for sound events, musician for sound themes, 3D modellers.

4) Celebrity and Personality contributers.
There might be well known artists, musicians, radio and tv front-persons, who would enjoy contributing their own little kit to a theme.

5) Kit for assisting the contributers
Theme components like sound events and icons could have a kit of blank contents which are labeled.
This might be easier for some people,because they can just open the file with their editor, make the contents and save it - with no need to check that they have correctly typed the name in.
Plus the names would be more uniform.

6) Easily self customizable themes.
Download a customizable theme.
Just enter your logo, speak in your organisation (and a few other words), and run a script to create -
i) logo-ed screen saver (with optional organisation song)
ii) logo-ed desktop
iii) Logo-ed icon for home folder
iv) personalized (voiced) sounds for logon welcome, new email for you, etc.

1) Hello young Eldmannen

Is that Hello Kitty like this ?;
http://www.hellokittyonline.com/us/

I like it - why not!

Would the creators of the "Hello Kitty" character like to help sponsor the development of a theme that promotes their work and their brand?

2) Something to have in the theme is a browser home page (on the local PC disk) that has pictures and links related to the topic.

3) Another part of theme kits could include a set of web links on the topic (double click to import to browser bookmarks).

May be a "Hello Kitty" fan club could help make some themes also.
