Idea #10700: Enhance Transmission

Related to: Transmission. Status: New
Description
Transmission at the moment isn't advanced enough as the other BT clients.
First, it lacks the function of moving the torrent data after it's complete. What if I want to move the data I've downloaded and keep on seeding it?
Second, it doesn't manage queues properly. It doesn't work with multiple trackers either. If the tracker allows you to download only one torrent at a time, Transmission is likely to stay idle after you downloaded the first torrent in your queue instead of proceeding to the next one.

"Transmission at the moment isn't advanced enough as the other BT clients."

Stop right there. That's exactly why Transmission was included - they thought it was simple enough and most users wouldn't need more powerful features. So, suggesting more features to it would be exactly against the idea as to why it was chosen.

Get Deluge or another bt client if you'd like more advanced features.

There is a new Transmission version out... I dont need many "advanced" features but it would be nice if it was improved to be faster, yet still easy to use.

A little GUI improvement wouldnt hurt, and is not as fast as lets say uTorrent... To make transmission nearly as good as uTorrent would be great!!

Do you think that proper queue management and ability to move data for completed torrents is far too complicated for an end-user?

Hey, I didn't make that decision. But the Ubuntu people who did think so.

So, get another client.

If you look at another programms included with Ubuntu, you'll understand that the keypoint was GTK+lightweight apps. But still they want functional and robust apps. Why didn't they include GOffice instead of OpenOffice? And there are many other points. Still, they could stick with common GNOME frontend to original BitTorrent client. I don't suggest including a whole multimedia stuff like Vuze, just some basic functions.

They would've stuck with it, but it was very old and unmaintained anymore (dead project). So that was pretty much the main argument against it.

Then, it was deluge vs transmission (the former being way more linux-friendly and popular), but... due to a very weird and a very controversial decision process, transmission was chosen.
