It's related to GNOME or X11, but not to Gnome Do (it's a Deskbar applet type of application)
But I love the idea anyway

Yes, I have a cordless mouse, which works with rechargeable batteries. I tend to have a very hard time using my computer, when the mouse discharges.
I know it isn't just GNOME's fault, a lot of GUI developers forget to improve their software's keyboard-only capacities.
I think at lest the default programs should be usable without a mouse.

I like this idea.
Too many times I find myself trying to fix some computer whose mouse is not working. In windows XP you can use the keyboard to navigate the desktop, but in Linux things are more difficult in this regard.
Anyway I think in windows XP you can't reach icons in the systray without a mouse (but can access desktop icons using the Alt key to switch between the panel/main menu and desktop icons).

I agree. Back in the day when I was mostly a Windows user I rarely had to reach for the mouse. Moving to Ubuntu/Gnome I find that almost everything I do I am using the mouse for. No longer does the computer have a hard time keeping up with me; now I can't grab the mouse fast enough to keep up with the computer.

I finally found the keyboard short-cut to access a panel the other day... in windows you can press windows key then esc and tab to switch from taskbar to desktop etc.
in GNOME you need to press:
Ctrl + Alt + Tab
or
Ctrl + Alt + Esc
( Copied from http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/tip/2289.html )
---== Panel Shortcut Keys ==---
Ctrl + Alt + Tab
Switches the focus between the panels and the desktop. When you use these shortcut keys, a list of items that you can select is displayed. Release the keys to select an item.
Ctrl + Alt + Esc
Switches the focus between the panels and the desktop. Release the keys to select an item.
Ctrl + F10
Opens the popup menu for the selected panel.
Tab
Switches the focus between objects on a panel.
Return (Enter)
Chooses the selected panel object or menu item.
Shift + F10
Opens the popup menu for the selected panel object.
Arrow keys
Moves the focus between items in a menu. Moves the focus between interface items in an applet also.
Esc
Closes an open menu.
F10
Opens the Applications menu from the Menu Bar , if the Menu Bar is in a panel.

Cool! Thx to gaspard.leon
But I can't get access to single systray application until.
This method helps me touch only whole systray object :(

Yes!!
I have tendinitis, and at times cannot use a mouse without having to endure more pain than the task is worth. Being able to get to the systray using the keyboard, and much improved shortcuts for default programs like RhythmBox, would be a boon to my productivity.
