Description
I really wanted to install Ubuntu, but the install kept going to a black screen. It also would not install on my home pc. The first pc is a dell sx270 and my home pc is one that I built with an Intel mobo, Pentium 2 DUO with 4 gig of RAM. I also have a low end nvidia card maybe 70 bucks in the home box. I tried everything I knew and finally got fed up and installed Fedora 9 which worked with all of my hardware. Fedora also has the ability to install it in text mode as part of the boot menu (great for video card problems during install). If only Utuntu developers would have added this small entry into the boot process instead of needing a seperate iso image.

It is better you use the forums or maybe launpad (for bugs) tho discuss this - here is the place for ideas...

If you just mean - install in text mode - this is possible.
Or - get the alternate cd, that is completely in text mode if you want.

yes, an interesting question: is it possible to give such an option to the normal live CD without irritating the normal users?

I think Wubi installs in text mode **(I am not sure, but i think)** with Wubi you don't have to use any CD with Wubi.
