Sometimes a person submits a comment that is particularly insightful and may clarify or embellish upon the idea. With comment voting, we'd be able to (like digg.com) hide comments that are not worthwhile, and make the ones that really count stand out to readers.

PS. I'm sure this is already an idea somewhere, but the dupe checking is broken and I can't find it...

@Eldmannen: You should try not being an asshole :D

I think this would be good, as sometimes some comments are really good and deserve to get +1 for them.

Maybe the comments voting would not have influence on overall statistic, but rather have it's own statistic.

And when viewing comments there should be a possibility show only "good" comments, "bad" comments" or all comments.
So you could see the comments that are really good and constructive.

This would also mean that comments shouldn't be deleted no more, as they are now, they could be marked as spam instead.
Like in YouTube.
+1

I was thinking and a problem with comment voting came up.
Should votes be cast also by the poster of comment?
I see no point in this, but it might be hard to program this.
Also how much programming is reacquired for making comments voting a reality??

I honestly don't see the need to be able to vote on comments. There aren't that many of them, and it's currently not a hassle to read through all of the comments on most ideas.

I think we should be able to mark some comments as possibly incorrect. THere have been a few I have seen which have been so off track with so many assumptions, that they should have actually been deleted
