Description
There have been a bunch of ideas to have a tutorial the first time you boot into a machine (like with windows), but since most users install Ubuntu themselves via the GUI installer, it would be nice if there was a tutorial that kicked up then that showed the user the features in Ubuntu, how to solve common newbie problems (ie where do I find ___ ), and things the user may want to do after the install is done (get use with synaptic, install any needed programs, setup e-mail, configure the desktop, etc). I wouldn't recommend this for Xubuntu, Ubuntu Server edition, or Edubuntu as these distros are either for resource light computers or for mass installs. The other advantage this has is it keeps the user's anticipation of the new OS high while they have to wait.

I totally agree with using the installation time to teach something to the user.

Not necessarily a dupe: #136 suggests a slide show, this one doesn't. And a slide show reminds me too much of these Windows Ads you see in the first start wizard.
