Idea #10306: Package Eclipse 3.5 "Ganymede" for Intrepid

bug This idea is a duplicate of Idea #1265: Make Eclipse a priority.
Written by swegner the 25 Jun 08 at 21:41. Related project: Eclipse. Status: New
Rationale
Eclipse has been outdated in the repositories for too long. We completely missed the 3.3 "Europa" release in Ubuntu. The next version of Eclipse and its related projects was released June 25, 2008. Please make it a priority to create a package for Ubuntu Intrepid, and eventually a backport for Hardy.

Eclipse 3.4 "Ganymede":

new Eclipse (Ganymede) == 3.4, not 3.5 :)

I apologize-- the version string in the title is wrong. Ganymede is actually the 3.4 release of Eclipse.

Bump... I've been fighting with 3.2.2 for two weeks now, it's not compatible with any of the plugins I've been trying to grab, and of course nothing told me this. Manual install of Ganymede solved all my problems.

It's no good to provide an out of date version in the packages. Better to deprecate it entirely than offer an old one masquerading as current. Seems like this has been stuck since 07.
