Idea #10056: Update Eclipse in Ubuntu Repositories

bug This idea is a duplicate of Idea #1265: Make Eclipse a priority.
Written by misterhaan the 19 Jun 08 at 16:07. Category: Programming. Related project: Nothing/Others. Status: New
Rationale
I use Eclipse 3.3.2 with PHP Developer Tools (PDT) plugin. The problem is I have to install it manually, because if I try to find and install Eclipse through Ubuntu it's version 3.2, and PDT is not supported. This cuts me off from getting Eclipse updates the same way I get updates to everything else, and has me instead running Eclipse as root every so often to use its built-in update search.

It would also be nice if PDT, Web Standards Tools, and other popular Eclipse plugins were available in a default Ubuntu repository.

first - don't run it as root, install it local in your /home/something directory...
And this is a duplicate.
