Description
What is with all the packages installed by default for various printers? When I plug in a peripheral the drivers should be fetched. Until then, I have no need for them.

If your connected to the internet at the time. Not all the world is connected to the internet all the time. Hence comman printers should be included by default.

I think as much hardware should be supported by default as possible as long as such support:
a) doesn't take up significant amounts of room
b) doesn't cause instability
c) doesn't overcomplicate the majority of user's computing if the hardware is long-obsolete (for example, forcing everyone to choose whenever they log in an X server using a serial mouse or an X server using PS/2 or USB would be an overcomplication. Stupid example I know :P )
This is because networking is not yet universal, Ubuntu is becoming popular in Africa where this is a very obvious issue.
There is a fourth issue with drivers and that is to do with the license, but Ubuntu has a clear policy here already (use whatever is needed to get the hardware going, so that Free Software can be run on it, although "getting it going" is subjective)

Yeah, it's like 0.01% of your harddisk space...
