Description
Current Ubuntu 8.04 live CD is not fully equipped to used just live without any installation.
some are the changes proposed here :
1) Change GUI : though it looks elegant but those who are migraters needs my computer like stuff so it should be visible by default instead of the drives.which are also not premounted we have to mount it by clicking ..

2) include Codecs .. include codecs to run some basic media files like mp3,mpg etc ..
this will be really great for just plugging in live cd and playing music for testing ...

3) live cd loads very slow .. this should be more faster ..

4) give some basic softwares and application installers with live CD .. at least gstreamer plugins and wine with latest stable version..

5) during the time of installation user should be given choice some basic gnome softwares to be installed using internet which do not come with ubuntu cd like gisomount, epiphany

6) integrate screenlets with ubuntu and show it with live cd .. it will increase its eye-candy

this can make live cd usable even without installing ubuntu and running it through live Cd

We can't include restricted codecs for legal reasons. You said to speed up the live cd, and to add things to slow it down? Demoting.

1) No. The live CD is meant as a sample of what ubuntu is, if we changed it and made them think the default installation shows a lame "My computer" icon and the users would find out that it is not there after installing it, they would complaint.

2) It already includes codecs for audio and video as you can see at the samples folder.
3) Any idea on how to improve the boot time?
4) Why?
5) Epiphany? They could just install them after the installation anyway.
6) Yeah let's bloat it with more useless eye candy.

The live CD already is usable without installing ubuntu.
