Solution #1: ubuntu 11.10 login fade-in
Written by Lotd the 2 Sep 11 at 17:34.
Right after you login it would be awesome if there could be added a fade effect, like lets say you enter you password and login, the login screen fades out and the desktop fades in, in a transition during the Ubuntu sound theme :)

Solution #2: After login - respective user desktop wallpaper need to display
Written by benoyanthony the 21 Sep 11 at 10:33.
After entering user name and password , screen should take to respective user wall paper and , fade-in effect can be used on toolbars , which will popup one by one. If fade-in-out effect used in between login screen and desktop it will look bad on slower systems.

Solution #3: Fading plus wallpaper integration in LDM.
Written by Logan Lockwood the 8 Oct 11 at 10:41.
When you select the user you want to log in with, and before you write its password, LDM Background should fade to that user's wallpaper. When you enter the right password, LDM fades out and your account fades in.

This required an added option: When you change your wallpaper, you should be asked "Do you want to activate LDM Background Integration?" That way, if your Wallpaper is obscene you can hide it. If not it can be shown in LDM.

Solution #1: Include 'shuffle' option in slideshow
Written by SuperEngineer the 22 Jun 10 at 22:24.
The best of the best (i.e. really worthy) of Ubuntu photo replacement for f-spot should have a 'random' / 'shuffle' option in the 'slideshow'. A simple option to implement but so often missed out in Ubuntu/Gnome software. Sorry... my coding days are over - but my brain and my support for Ubuntu are not.

EOG with PSD and XCF facility
Written by sandras74 the 7 Sep 10 at 09:04. Related project: Gnome. Not an idea
If you want to see your XCF and PSD images, you can see them with the GIMP. The EOG is starting faster and there isn't GIMP on the basic install.

Icon with the current select program
Written by riascosc the 9 Apr 11 at 01:39. Global category: Graphics. Not an idea
In ubuntu 11.04, when we select a program, appear in the header the name or the main menu without the icon of the program.

En la version de ubuntu 11.04, cuando abrimos un programa y lo seleccionamos, aparece el menu principal de ese programa si esta seleccionado ó solo el nombre el icono.

Solution #1: Put the current select program icon with the main menu in the header
Written by riascosc the 9 Apr 11 at 01:39.
Would be great that appear the icon of this program too, with the name or the main menu of the current selected program.

Seria muy bueno que ese nombre o menu fuera acompañado con el icono del programa que esta seleccionado.

Solution #2: Bring back old behaviour (pencil button)
Written by david4dev the 5 Jan 11 at 20:27.
The 'pencil' button that toggled editability of the path should be brought back by default, with an option to remove it (in Edit->Preferences not just gconf-editor).

etc.

Radiance and Ambiance themes are bit monotone
Written by faiface the 18 May 11 at 16:45. Global category: Graphics. Not an idea
This is a design problem. There are two usable Ubuntu themes: Radiance and Ambiance. But they are bit monotone, one is dark, second is light. For example Windows 7 looks good because its colours. Ubuntu looks good too but it look may get boring.

Solution #1: The new theme

There can be another more colorful theme. In Ubuntu style of course. Can use nice, light, spring colors.

Written by PhoneixS the 30 Sep 10 at 15:12. Related project: Image Viewer (EoG). Not an idea
As animated gif are show correctly, I think that the animated version of png (apng format) must be show correctly too, not only the first frame.

Solution #3: Support MNG
Written by Eldmannen the 30 Oct 10 at 12:42.
MNG is a public graphics file format for animated images.
MNG is closely related to the PNG image format. When PNG development started in early 1995, developers decided not to incorporate support for animation. However, work soon started on MNG as an animation-supporting version of PNG.

auto adjust brightness depending on the clarity of the image displayed
Written by kenjiu2002 the 17 Nov 10 at 15:49. Related project: Compiz Advanced Settings (ccsm). New
This was originaly a rather stunning fonction integrated to some NEC screens. NEC called that technology "auto-bright". I thought we could adapt the concept in software. Excessive or insufficient brightness tires the eyes. Therefore, as some pages are white (as google) and others are dark, the only way to keep the best setting is to compensate this frequent color variation by the appropriate brightness correction. This could also improve the autonomy of laptops.

Solution #1: Modify compiz plugin AND create an independant package.
Written by kenjiu2002 the 17 Nov 10 at 15:49.
Modify the compiz plugin "opacity, brightness and saturation" by adding the auto-bright fonctionnality and giving choice between two modes: screen mode and window mode. The window mode would adjust brightness of each window according to its own colors, while screen mode would adjust the entire screen brightness (or backlight) to its colors too.
.
AND
.
Create an independant package doing the same stuff, so that everybody can use it, either he uses compiz, metacity, or other. For example, take the case of the netbook that i am using now: compiz slow it down significantly so i don't use compiz on this computer, and i am constantly changing manually the brightness setting because of my particular sensitivity of the eyes.
