I want big icons to use touchscreen but small texts
Written by Wiplash4 the 8 May 09 at 09:09. New
The problem is, that icon size depends on text size. But usually one wants big icons or buttons so one can use his touchscreen but small texts to read.

Solution #1: Seperate icon size from text size
Written by Wiplash4 the 8 May 09 at 09:09.
Make a new tab in Appearance to determine icon and button size.

I guess Windows 7 does this so people can use multitouch better.

Solution #3: Have an option with no text
Written by adem3311 the 27 May 09 at 03:05.
Have an option to have no text at all and only an icon. Take a look at some of the most popular tablets; there is no text by the icon. The icons are enough to know what you're opening so there could be an option for the text to be turned off.

Add Gnuzilla IceCat in Ubuntu 8.10's "Free Software Only" Mode   forum
Written by s3a the 6 Jul 08 at 09:04. New
First of let me start by saying that I think pressing F6 twice on boot to get a free Ubuntu is better than having a whole other distribution called Gobuntu however, Gobuntu should follow the same goal and it probably already is but read on to get my true point. Gobuntu 7.10 had an issue with Firefox's proprietary artwork (logo, name). (Read on for my point/opinion.)

IceCat is a very picky version of Firefox but it is essentially a more free as in freedom version of Firefox in which the browser as a whole is free to be changed as opposed to the majority of the browser in the standard Firefox.

Windows converts and others who just like Firefox should still be able to get it by loading Ubuntu as they normally would but for the extra picky users (The "Free Software Only" Mode is made for picky users in the first place), when they choose to load a fully free Ubuntu system, have IceCat be in that mode.

It shouldn't be hard to implement with concern to space consumption either since they are technically the same package with SLIGHT differences, so it shouldn't take much more space at all!

If Firefox is going to be the browser as it was for 8.04 in the "Free Software Only" mode, then there really is no point for a Free-Software mode (apart from open source video drivers, etc).

If not IceCat then epiphany or at least some fully free web browser. However, I do think it would be better to have IceCat since it is technically a fully free FIREFOX and that's what Ubuntu users would prefer to have.

In addition to it being "free-er", IceCat points solely to free plugins such as gnash instead of pointing to Adobe as would the original Firefox.

Voters, remember...you are voting for it to be in the "Free Software" Mode only so if you want Firefox and you load Ubuntu in the normal way, this won't affect you so, please vote ;).

I recognized the fact, that so many apps use tabbing:
Firefox, nautilus, even multidesktop is a nothing but a system of tabs. Why does Ubuntu not have a global handling of tabs?

1. Make screenlets more reliable
2. Build a little screenlet editor: Within this editor the user sets position and scale and so forth of each screenlet. So no one is bothered with those preferences during normal session!

Replace Grub with GFXBoot, but improve gfxboot
1. Make it possible to access it via Multitouch
2. Enable password protection
3. Make gfxboot load an entry after x time
4. Create a Gui to design an implement a theme for gfxboot.
Thanks

Solution #2: Gfxboot design proposal
Written by Toxicbits the 13 Oct 10 at 20:05.
I dont have a solution, just a suggestion how the default theme might look like: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12598822/Grub.png. Another quiet cool design is this one: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/Incoming/Concepts/Grub_UI?action=AttachFile&do= get&target=uboot.png

Solution #3: Introduce BURG
Written by AZorin the 8 Dec 10 at 13:22.
BURG is a much newer and more developed multi-boot manager and is more similar to GRUB than GFXboot making it simpler to integrate into Ubuntu by default. http://code.google.com/p/burg/
