Unobtrusive session resuming
Written by enbuyukfener the 16 Sep 08 at 06:56. New
For people who use "remember programs from last session", you may find that programs open one by one (more or less) when you login and resume the session and this includes programs that didn't even have active windows before closing the session.

Fixing this would require:

- Programs such as Pidgin would ideally have a "start in tray" option like many applications already do (Skype and Deluge off the top of my head)

and / or

- More control over resumed programs, such as being able to select all or some programs to start minimised or maybe even start them in the appropriate work spaces

P.S.

Hibernate does not work very well on my system (in case someone suggests that as a solution or work around)

For "related to", I reluctantly selected Gnome but this applies to all desktop environments.

Written by enbuyukfener the 16 Sep 08 at 06:56.
Ubuntu Brainstorm was updated in January 2009. Since the idea #13287 was submitted before this update, its rationale and solution are not separated. Please vote accordingly, and if you have the necessary rights, please separate the rationale from the solution. Thanks!
