Theme development plugin for Gimp
Written by Auzy the 27 Sep 08 at 05:48. New
Please note: People should probably vote for Theme development for Inkscape instead, as that would allow vector, Raster and hybrid themes, and leave this as +0.

It would be good if there was an easy way to create themes for GTK or QT on Linux. I propose making an extendable plugin for Gimp that supports making theme design for Gnome, amarok, QT, GTK, etc easy.

It should be capable of:
- Showing a preview window of the theme in real-time
- Allow users to click elements in the preview window to modify their appearance
- Temporarily preview it system wide
- Automatically submit it to a theming site.
- List the elements, allowing designers to click the element to edit it, and identify elements which are yet to be themed.

Because of of now, I don't believe there is a streamlined process of designing/change the theme, and previewing the changes in real-time. Such a plugin would encourage the development of new linux themes, make linux themes more internally consistant, ensure themes get made properly, and eliminate the need for designers to have to read any documentation to make them. Making themes with this plugin should make it easy enough for any user to make them (even me).

Clearing GIMP Document history when clearing Gnome recent documents
Written by pi314 the 20 Sep 08 at 14:18. New
When you clear Gnome recent documents, many applications clear their recent documents but GIMP doesn't.
It would be great to integrate GIMP into Gnome and be able to clear GIMP Document history when clearing recent documents.
This way you wouldn't need to clear them separately.

Thanks

Install GIMP by default in one window (gimpshop)
Written by kramer65 the 19 Sep 08 at 10:20. New
I am trying to use the gimp more and more, but one of the biggest drawbacks I see is the fact that it are all different windows. I have to work in the image AND constantly change settings in the main window. This is very annoying since I constantly have to go back to my taskbar to "search for" the gimp, change a setting, and go back to the image.
This is very annoying when you've got many images open which you're working on and the taskbar is therefore full of things..

It should come in one window by default.

ps. I tried to install gimpshop several timees but it always gives me errors or doesn't work.

Add PANTONE Color Libraries in Inkscape and Gimp
Written by ubby the 20 Aug 08 at 16:45. New
Add PANTONE Color Libraries in Inkscape and Gimp just like the Adobe products have.

If you don't know what PANTONE is you can look here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantone

Developer comments
There are legal considerations against providing a Pantone-compatible color palette; for more info see:

Don't open new images on top of other windows when GIMP is not selected.
Written by kramer65 the 19 Aug 08 at 15:51. New
I often work on about 10 photo's at the same time in GIMP. I then simply select them all and open them all at the same time. However, when they are opening, I can't do anything else because the new pic opens on top of what I do every time.
It should load the photo's in the background if the GIMP is not selected so that I can do other stuff in the meantime..

Make "photomerge" option in the GIMP
Written by kramer65 the 18 Aug 08 at 21:30. New
I am using the GIMP for a while now and although you have to get used to it, it is fine for pretty much everything. There is one thing in photoshop cs3 however, that I always need to boot to windows for; photomerge.
This function merges photo's together so you can get beautiful panorama's from several pictures. I love it! This should be an option in the GIMP as well.

I know there is something called "hugin" for the GIMP which claims to do the same. It is however in no way comparable.

Written by trylik the 9 Aug 08 at 09:51. New
i am using gimp and kde4, when i have to edit some graphics on ftp server, i have to download it first to my local drive, and then edit it and upload again to server

this would be very nice feature if i could work directly on networks protocols like ftp or fish

it is possible in quanta, why it is not in gimp?

Bring Tabs into Gimp
Written by dragoninsane the 16 Jul 08 at 13:56. New
Tabs allows us to quick navigation to files, features, docks, pallete, brushes etc, adding tabs to make it look better than Photoshop, here is a mockup
http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/GIMP+3?content=49951
Hope developers listen. If there are plenty of Windows docking
inside single window and treating all windows inside on big window is solution.also there should be a property in "Windows" menu like
windows>>reset docks to original location,reset pallete,reset
presets for brushes etc.

Fix GIMP's canvas/layer/image management
Written by laryllian the 6 Jul 08 at 22:38. New
I hate GIMP's layer/canvas management, why do we have commands like "fit canvas to layer" or "layer to image size"? If one pastes a new picture into an existing one or create a new layer out of a selection no one needs to deal with those things. Anyone doing serious image manipulation knows what i am talking about... Thx
