A default system of widgets for ubuntu
Written by alpikat the 6 Jul 08 at 15:07. New
Put a system of widgets like the gadgets of Windows Vista or Mac OS X widgets, installed as standard on the operating system ready for use when the installation finishes.
The program could be based on the source of gdesklets.
If implemented the idea would be good to be compatible with the widgets of google and gdesklets; and also would have their own native widgets for the program.

Solution #1: Auto-generated solution of idea #10789
Written by alpikat the 6 Jul 08 at 15:07.
Ubuntu Brainstorm was updated in January 2009. Since the idea #10789 was submitted before this update, its rationale and solution are not separated. Please vote accordingly, and if you have the necessary rights, please separate the rationale from the solution. Thanks!

Solution #2: Google Gadgets for Linux
Written by tk03759 the 11 Mar 09 at 03:01.
Google Gadgets for Linux are very stable and have a fair base of widgets already built in my opinion. If they were configured to work with Compiz's Widget Layer, and also with the option to lay them on the desktop, they would be a great default.
