Here are random ideas about Emesene .
Emesene -Ability to import many display pictures at once

In Emesene, you import display pictures to a display picture chooser where all of you display pictures are stored. It would be nice to be able to import many at once when browsing for them, using crtl/shift (or by drag and drop) as some times you want to import an entire folder and then be able to choose among your different faces.

Written by Aosi the 7 Nov 09 at 18:47.
New
Well there isn't a problem, but i like to use emesene or another im software, but there isn't an option to change the default IM(Empathy) for another one, 'cause is a i kind of problem have to see 2 IM on the system try, yes 2 icons; the default for empathy and another one for emesene,

An IM Administrator, with options for email(change between tunderbird etc) or just for IM(can select emesene, pidgin, empathy etc) as default one and some right click actions to do this more easyer

Solution #2:
Built in Mail Notification in the Mail/IM launcher

I agree with Aosi on this one, as freedom of choice is close to the hearts of most Linux users.
But here is an addition to the solution:
1. Configurable launcher icon: select which program to start when pressed (via second mouse button -> configure...)
2. The mail/IM launcher should also be able to indicate when new mail has arrived!
- when I first saw the new position of the icon I said - wow, now this has Mail Notification built in. But no. I still have two icons for mail. The default launcher and a Mail Notification icon, which tells me when I have new mail. This should definitely be built in to the launcher! The same configure... -button would have option to monitor several mailboxes.

Solution #3:
Make Empathy be good looking. Improve design/theme.

Well, right now, empathy is powerful, but lack of something very important for 90% market:
BEAUTY. PRETTY, GOOD LOOKING.

Solution #4:
Empathy Should Have Email Nofications
Having email notification build right into empathy would be much more useful, especially because it's available in almost all other IM programs, such as pidgin. I'm not exact sure why this isn't already implemented, or at least as an option. To be honest, it is the only reason I currently use emesene over empathy.
