Solution #1: Index manually the existing files after a fresh install or on demand
Written by vmalep the 11 May 13 at 22:02.
In the system settings, there should be a wizard (launched automatically after a fresh install) that invite the user to select the folder to scan (by default, the Home folder only) in order to fill in the index that will use the Dash (or the Lense or the Scope, honestly, I still don't have understood the difference) to list the files in its result.

Live usb are not themselves updated during installation
Written by vmalep the 19 Apr 12 at 09:28. Related project: Live CD installer. Already implemented
When installing a new device with usb live ubuntu, the installation process takes a long time downloading all the updates. On the next installation with the same usb key, this download process is repeated.

Beside, one of the fallback of Linux/Ubuntu is the difficulty to install packages or update computer not connected to internet (I spent times in Africa where the internet connection was an issue). There are solutions (keryx, apt-offline, download script), but far to be straightforward.

Solution #1: Update the Live usb during the installation and configure it has offline source
Written by vmalep the 19 Apr 12 at 09:28.
The live usb image should be updated when running an new installation with download of updated packages.

The live usb installation should be configured to serve as an offline package source for apt-get (when inserting the usb key on an offline computer).

When installing/downloading a new packages on the live usb (live session), this package should be then available for offline computers.
