Make "Network Proxy" set proxy settings for common packages too
Written by bkdonline the 24 Feb 13 at 14:52. Related project: Network Manager. New
Usually many people work behind a proxy. Currently, there is a common interface just to set the network proxy on system level. But this does not set proxy for synaptic, apt, wget and even environment variables like http_proxy, https_proxy are not set.

Solution #1: Edit conf files for various native ubuntu apps by one program
Written by bkdonline the 24 Feb 13 at 14:52.
There should be a checkbox in the "Network Proxy" app, which should set the proxy for other applications too. So if this checkbox is ticked, then /etc/apt/apt.conf, /etc/environment, /etc/wgetrc, and such other files should be edited to have correct proxy settings. This will make Ubuntu much more user friendly.

Solution #2: iptables as workaround
Written by uqabh the 25 Feb 13 at 21:01.
Use iptables rules to redirect http-related traffic to a proxy server. This omits the need for configuration on application level. Simply stay with the current configuration dialog, but make it configure iptables in addition.

Ubuntu's own accounts are missing in the Online Accounts section
Written by uqabh the 14 Nov 12 at 13:58. Related project: Unity. Not an idea
Ubuntu offers a launchpad web app. So why no according account management in the online accounts section? The same with Ubuntu One or the Software Center Account etc.

Solution #1: Ubuntu SSO account plugin for Online Accounts
Written by uqabh the 14 Nov 12 at 13:58.
Create a new plugin for online accounts that offers the data to the software center or the launchpad web app. The plugin stores the data of the SSO account currently used for these services.
