Virtual OS inside a single hardware

Why dont we have a program in the Ubuntu server through which we can create and maintain a number of virtual OS.
The different advantage of the program may be,
1) Testing professionals: for testing in different OS environments
2) IT professionals: they could create different OS in a single system and could provide to the required user remotely. This considerably reduces the number of individual hardware and also saves lot of power.
There could be an immense advandage over other OS if this particular application or program is combined with Ubuntu.

I think it would be great to be able to change between firefox tabs using scroll over them.
It can be done with gnome windows and is very useful.
Thanks

Instant Playlists

When dragging and dropping files, for example, an audio file, a good idea would be the ability to drop the audio file onto another one, and create an instant play list from within Nautilus. Clicking on this new play list will open the favoured media player to play the files.
For this, in the left hand Places bar, a new item labelled possibly along the lines of cued files, within which sorted into audio, video, and mixed, within which the created play lists would be shown automatically (I guess the respective default media folders in home could be monitored for this in the background and instantly added). The reason why I say cued files is because I would hope this concept could be applied to other files like PDF and office files, rather than just the usual media play lists, to create almost like a "To read" list, to easier go through multiple documents.

Hackety Hack is a free Ruby-based environment aiming to make programming easily available to beginners, especially teenagers.
It is very simple, you can code a blog in just 6 lines of source code.
It is a great fun and educational way to teach programming to kids.
This should be in the repository, and perhaps included in Edubuntu.
Perhaps this will inspire the guy who makes the next Google?

Warn user when using special shortkeys

One of the first thing I was wondered about, is the fact that Ubuntu has several special short keys, like ctrl+alt+function key and ctrl+alt+backspace. I think it's useful that users get a warning message when they are using these shortkeys. The message could be like this:
You have pressed the short key CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE. This short key will let you log out immediately and is not recommended for beginning users. To cancel the operation, press the Cancel button. To confirm, press the short key again or press the Confirm button.
You have pressed the short key CTRL+ALT+F1. This short key will let you switch to a command line interface and is not recommended for beginning users. If you wish to switch back to your graphical desktop, press the short key CTRL+ALT+F7. To cancel the operation, press the Cancel button. To confirm, press the short key again or press the Confirm button.
People can disable it by System>Preferences>Shortkeys

Make it easier to file Brainstorm bugs

Even after excessive using of Ubuntu Brainstorm each single time I want to file a bug for it I have to search where to do this.
I would suggest to add at the bottom of the page, next to the Contact us, something like "I found a Bug in Brainstorm" or "file Brainstorm bug" or similar.

Polish Adept

Since Hardy, Adept Manager the first time is "usable", which means, it doesn't crash when making a package refresh.
But this application, compared to e.g. synaptic, needs very much polish, it still looks overkilling and unproffessional.
When fetching the packages, a huge window appears with any detail I would eventually ant to know - this looks like a debug version.
Please make it simpler and suck less. Just a process bar and more stylish.
It is a typical KDE old school program - "try to squeeze as many informations as you can into one Window".
I love KDE, but Adept is lacking style AND usability.

Change compiz resize keys from Alt+Middle to Alt+Right click

All other WM (KWin, Fluxbox,...) use Alt+Right Click to resize windows, compiz should do that too to make migration easier.
I needed half a year in GNOME/conpiz to recognize that it is possible, but with the "wrong" mouse button.

New tag: irrelevant

So, we have "unimplementable", "work in progress", "new" and "implemented".
I wish we had a "irrelevant" one, I could not think of a better word, only words that are more accurate yet offensive. If it wasn't for PC I would recommend something like "duh", "captain obvious" or "lame"
I for one don't think ideas like "make ubuntu faster" or "improve hardware support", "fix bugs" deserve any actual credit, I mean, isn't it obvious the mainstream and ubuntu devs are working on it already? If it is a new bug report it ought to go to launchpad, right now those posts are just taking vital brainstorm space, and they are too frequent. Sometimes they just take a more selfish form "Make my computer faster", "Improve hardware support to a piece of hardware I got", "Fix bug that annoys me", "Select the default I like the most", man...

So, this is gonna have terrible reactions, but here's the deal:
Konqueror is a fine browser, but firefox is better, at least the version 3 is much better. Dunno why Kubuntu doesn't include it yet it includes OOo instead of Koffice?
Brasero is perhaps the best GTK cd burning app out there, yet it blows in comparison to K3B, in the sense that at least K3b works...
Amarok...
What I think is that ubuntu is locked into GTK apps, while Kubuntu is locked into QT apps, couldn't we just let distros pick the best, friendlier program? I actually think konqueror should be included in ubuntu if only for being the most decent way to have a graphical interface for (s)ftp, ssh , etc. There are a lot of examples in which apps from one distro top another and viceversa... adept sort of works, but I really think synaptic is better at that stuff, etc...
I am not saying "replace brasero with k3b", I am saying that the team that decides what default apps to include should not get limited by GTK or QT, but by which one is better, their choices are perhaps going to vary with mine.

Donation lottery

So, there are a lot of projects that in some way aid ubuntu, and some of them are small scaled, even for a company like canonical it would not be easy to invest in them all periodically.
I think it would be nice if there was a list of projects that allow donations and every week X projects could be picked by a selection algorithm that weights projects by apt downloads during that week (this weighting part is optional) and would donate a small percentage of money destined for development to them, could work as a good way to distribute donations made to canonical and to promote overall involvement and new projects.

* The splash screens for startup and shutdown: They are so simple and minimal that I wish more things of the artwork well like that. They also do work and look good. Please don't change them, at least not brutally, I think it is better to invest time on more important things.
* The same goes for the sounds, they are so nice and original, I love the drums and the clock! Please, don't change them just because a brainstorm post appears saying they are updated, who cares? They work and they are nice.
