Make USB keyboards work in GRUB

I have a USB keyboard and it works in the BIOS, but it doesn't work in GRUB.
This could confuse new users, especially if they want to change the language of the boot cd.
Isn't this a critical point?

I have a seperate root and home partition. The root partition was 5GB big. Once it got full because of all the updates sitting in /var/somewhere...
The system started to act funny and it took a while to realize what's wrong.

Installed Kubuntu 8.04 on launch day and today I changed the language settings to hungarian (my native language) in KDE (also the system language). Maybe the installer didn't reach the servers for localized packages on launch day :-P
GRUB still is in english, but it would be really nice if it spoke to me in the language I chose at installation. Yeah, that would be more newbie friendly.

We all know that the Wii is a big hit. We can make linux just as successfull with these mini ideas:
- Make a program (Ubuntu Game Browser) that is like adept or synaptic but only shows games (and emulators) that can be installed/removed with proper description and screenshots. This program would be automatically installed in Programs/Games
- Help financially projects like stepmania, frets on fire, sim-city like games etc. Games that are popular and would be successful on other platforms too, or mimic other successful games exclusively in linux. Make these available in the repositories and be sure to always have the latest version.
- Make a subpage on ubuntu.com for games. Also, games should be able to send "achievment points" or high scores to this page to show the top100 gamers for each popular game. There could also be an online matchmaker here
- Make easy to use interface in gnome and kde to configure gamepads, joysticks, dancepads, wheels etc. Be sure to support out of the box the wii controller, xbox360 controller etc...

This package enables a user to drag an image from firefox directly to gimp. This way you don't have to save and open. Saves a lot of time...

A simple way to make Infrared work

I have a serial and a USB IR reciever, but couldn't make them work at all. The serial one worked in Slackware like five years ago when I used it. It would be so cool to use the universal remote to control watching videos and stuff like that...

Browser Sync like Google Browser Sync

I use a total of 3 computers daily and Google Browser Sync helps a lot in consistent web browsing. It not only syncs bookmarks, but cookies, passwords and sessions too.
http://www.google.com/tools/firefox/browsersync/
It is great because I can continue browsing juts where I left it on any machine.
THE PROBLEM IS that Frirefox 3 is NOT SUPPORTED, and there seems to be no plan on google's part to continue the extensions development.
Such a project is really important, please make one like this! (If it supported konqueror, opera or even IE and safary - well that would make a lot of people happy...)

In the kubuntu install this program has no icon. Probably in ubuntu too, but I cannot check it now.
Also there is something wrong with it as it shows 'grap preview failed' and I have to restart it to continue encoding.

Option to skip connecting to servers during install

On launch day the installation took way more time than usual, because when the installer tried to connect to the servers nothing happened for like 30 minutes. There should be a button to skip tis step. Maybe it should be hidden for 5 minutes, so that newbies do not click on it when there is a good connection. There should also be a warning that "you have to install these packages after install manually for localization if you skip this step"

I don't know if this is possible, but it would be cool if there was a program that could enable me to set a list of programs to be present in memory from the system start. I know that this would make system startup much longer, but if you use like 6 pieces of software all the time during work like me it would make starting them up way faster.
You could make a list from the installed programs like:
- OpenOffice
- Gimp
- Audacious
- Doplhin
- Firefox
- Thunderbird
It would show the available memory and how much this would take away from it.
I imagine this by not starting the actual programs at startup (that is possible in other ways), but to make them start up extremely fast by loading most of them in memory (if you have 2GB RAM, you can spare some of it to this). If you close the program, it would dissapear, but would still be present in memory and if you click on it's icon it would appear instantly...

I have a lot of nice service menus created by me for image manipulation, video encoding/cutting and stuff like that.
I service menus will stay important in kde4, there should be an online collection for them...

Ctrl+w to close all programs

In firefox and other programs that use, ctrl+w closes the current tab. I find this very useful and also comfortable as it is easier to reach than alt+f4 (for me at least)
It would be cool if ctrl+w could also close the application when there are no more tabs + it would be even better if it would close all applications (not all of them at once, please don't misunderstand me :-) in both gnome and kde.
There may be settings in the window manager for this, but I'd like to see this as a default setting.
If you like the idea please vote for it :-D

Disable middle-click url loading in Firefox

If you click on a link with the middle mouse button, it loads it in a new tab. I usually use this and love the feature.
However, if you highlighted some text with the mouse somewhere and it is on the clipboard, if you miss the link with the middle click the browser loads up the highlighted text as the url...
I find this very annoying, the browser should do nothing in thiws case!
