Gather "user statistics" i order to improve the ubuntu exprience

In order to improve the out of the box-experience of ubuntu I think ubuntu should start collect user statistics. Example of data that could be collected includes:

how the user configures the menu bars in gnome (ie och many and where they are located etc)

which applications the user chooses to have on the menu bars

A LAMP meta-package for server installation
Written by scemmine the 10 May 08 at 10:29. Category: Server. Related to: Nothing/Others. Already implemented
I think there should be a LAMP meta-package providing installation and quick configuration for Apache, MySQL and PHP. After having installed the meta-package i should be able to have a running production environment, even if basically configured. This idea can surely be extended to a PAMP stack, with PostgreSQL, so there might be a PAMP meta-package too.

A more complete services manager
Written by samcan the 10 May 08 at 22:44. Category: System. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
The current services applet, while sufficient for disabling and enabling services (in the current run-level?) could be made more complete by adding functionality similar to that in Fedora/Red Hat.

Features could include such as which run-level the administrator is modifying services for, and starting, stopping and restarting services from the applet.
