Automatically disable the touchpad when you are typing by specifying a number of seconds the touchpad stays inactive after you hit a button on the keyboard. This is very useful on laptops where it is very easy to accidentily touch the touchpad while typeing.

Most users do not have a PalmOS PDA. For some reason, Ubuntu developers decided to install support for PalmOS devices by default in Ubuntu (you can access it at: System / Preferences / PalmOS Devices).
I think it's not a good idea to by default install support for one specific brand of PDA's which only a tiny fraction of the users is ever going to use. Those people who do have a PalmOS PDA can easily install it afterwards.
So: Please remove support for PalmOS devices from the default install. This includes the packages: gnome-pilot, gnome-pilot-conduits.

adobe flash has become ridiculously slow. it's perverse that i can play a dvd in full screen mode and that uses about 5% of my processor, while as a small flash window on youtube stutters. as well as this, there is of course no 64-bit version, or a version for sparc/powerpc under linux.
the solution is obvious--gnash must be developed. could canonical/ubuntu invest some development time in getting gnash working well? that would be great :)

It is likely that the situation will occur that you vote an idea up or down, only to then take part in the discussion and change your mind about it. After all, there is bound to be someone with more expertise with a different view on the subject that you hadn't considered. Currently, you cannot see, remove or reverse your vote. I think you should be able to, on the basis that it would give a more accurate and up-to-date representation of user opinion.
The counter-argument to this would be that it could cause an element of uncertainty, but I do not feel that avoiding this should come at the expense of being able to change your mind.

Currently the Eclipse packages in Ubuntu lack heavily behind other distributions like lets say Fedora.
The packages in ubuntu are outdated and so are the eclipse language plugins like CDT or Pydev.
Properly supporting this top notch IDE should give new linux developers an easier start.
