I would like to install software on portable storage
Written by reddog13 the 12 Oct 12 at 00:45. Related project: Ubuntu Software Center. Not an idea
I think it would be a cool idea to be able to install software from the software center or apt-get or even synaptic, to a thumb drive, external hard drive, or a SD Card.

Not only to install to any portable storage but to also take that storage image of installed applications to desktop, laptop, tablet, cellphone, and run it like it is a local application.

This way if you are working with projects or have saved games, you can have that progression from one device to another without the need for installation of application on whatever device you are plugged into.

Also it would be nice if this application image could have public or private server/could sync capabilities.

Solution #1: create a live application image
Written by reddog13 the 12 Oct 12 at 00:45.
Only way I can think of is to be able to create a plug and play type of image, that when plugged into a ubuntu system, the applications on the image would be plugged into the system as if they were installed from that system software center.
This would be handy for those devices with low storage, like cell phones tablets, or desktop/laptop with small fast SSD hard drives.
Encryption would be a plus, so if the app image were to be lost there could be some comfort that the data would be difficult to retieve. Also maybe a secondary security if the application image is plugged into a new system before access it would be required to be logged into the software center.
