Enable Consecutive Right-Click
Written by graem978@student.liu.se the 5 Apr 08 at 14:36. Category: Look and Feel. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
Make it possible to right-mouseclick to get the menu up, and then right-mouseclick somewhere else to make a new menu pop-up. Instead of the second right-click closing the first menu.

This is just one of the many cases when this comes into play. Generally, make it possible to access buttons in non-active applications with one click. Instead of using two mouseclicks, first mouseclick for de-activating current active application/activating new application and one more to access the button.

This might be a deep X issue, but come on. It does so much for the usability.

Do not use Black Screen screensaver during installation
Written by webhamster the 18 Apr 08 at 20:05. Category: Installation. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
I think it is very confusing that during installation, the screen suddenly becomes black. It would be much better if there would be at least a simple image, so that the screen does not look like the computer just crashed.

The Trash should be emptied whatever the content
Written by krs the 8 May 08 at 07:50. Category: System. Related to: Nothing/Others. Not an idea
Sometimes you have files in your trash that you cannot empty. (rights problem)

If a file ends in the user trash, this user must be able to empty it.

For example, If you copy files from a DVD, or a external HD, sometimes the file appear with a lock icon, you can delete it, but you can't empty the trash.

(sorry for my english)

Background Wallapaper options
Written by WaddleDee the 12 May 08 at 03:22. Category: Look and Feel. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
We should have more advanced Wallpaper options, Like Radial gradients and fancy stuff like that.

And another thing I would like to see is Setting a background image, and being able to set a tiled image behind it. Exp: A image of a star ass wallpaper, centered. And a tiled image of generic inter-stellar space behind it.

Sounds very cool

Codenames for other languages too
Written by bogdan_5844 the 12 May 08 at 07:02. Category: Marketing. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
Right now, ubuntu versions have funny codenames like Gutsy Gibbon,Hardy Heron, etc.

They sound great in English, but many users are not english-speaking(Here in Romania many people that I converted to Ubuntu love it,but they don't know a word in English)

I think it would be a great thing if each language had it's "translation" of the english codename.

Maybe we could involve the Ubuntu LoCo in this project.

Add docx, xlsx, pptx, etc. support to OpenOffice and other Ubuntu Office suites
Written by Redrazor39 the 6 May 08 at 00:50. Category: Office. Related to: Nothing/Others. In development
title basically. We need to add this support. Apple already has it (but they sued or something) but we should still get it because lots of people are switching to Office Open XML (darn ms for using a name like ours for their cruddy formats) and we need to be able to use that or some people will not consider ubuntu as ahead in technology- they will consider it behind because of some silly office format.

Developer comments
As described in this feature list, OpenOffice 3, which will very likely be included in Ubuntu 8.10, will have import filters for MS OpenXML files.
