Brainstorm: show the "yes" or "no" votes
Written by fraiddo the 24 Apr 08 at 17:44. Category: Brainstorm. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
Hello,

I think it is interesting to also show votes "yes" and "no" to see how much an idea was considered interesting or not.

Only know the difference between the "yes" and "no" doesn't reflect all of a vote in my opinion.

bye

Install package with e.g. gdebi while synaptic is open should be possible
Written by natureflow the 5 Apr 08 at 16:36. Category: System. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
It should be possible to install a package with e.g. gdebi while synaptic is open. It's a shame! In the moment it isn't possible. :(

BUG: UBUNTU USERS ARE (often) DUMB
Written by gvy the 1 Mar 08 at 19:30. Category: Others. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
There's a perceived feeling that Ubuntu leaders tend to spoonfeed their users with the same expectation as Microsoft: that they can be arbitrarily dumb.

Well, to much extent they respond as expected.

Isn't it better long-term to educate than to increase technology complexity per joe average user? Those who have to deal with grossly incompetent result (like space-centered lines in Word or OpenWriter, no difference) would ha^H^H*love* you for promoting incompetence just as well, and quite for a reason.

Brainstorm: Restrict idea submission
Written by diaa the 24 Mar 08 at 04:57. Category: Brainstorm. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
Currently anyone can post ideas on Brainstorm and unfortunately some *useless* ideas clutter the view for voters and sometimes get high ranking.

For example some ideas about miscellaneous things(such as replacing the Example folder, show network transfer speed and others) have more votes than other ideas which are concerned with the usability/compatibility/etc of Ubuntu.

one way to fix this is to add some restrictions on posting ideas(not anyone can post, only people with certain *credibility*), I feel that people need guidance on when to promote or demote an idea.

May be one solution is to publish a list of possible future enhancements and bug fixes(by Cannonical) then users can vote on those.

Create a Ubuntu version for Windows users
Written by sf_007 the 20 Mar 08 at 01:09. Category: Others. Related to: Nothing/Others. New
Have the regular version of ubuntu, and then a version for windows users, that version including wubi, wine, wine-doors, or equivalent, WinFOSS, or something to inform about Linux equivalents of windows programs, a good driver to read/write linux filesystems (for windows), a windows program to check if the Hardware will work on ubuntu, some tutorials to make the transition from windows to ubuntu and how to do the most common things...
Windows has the largest user base, so if Linux wants to succeed, it has to convert many windows users...
